The Historical Sword Society provides structured instruction in Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), combining historical research with practical application. Our programs emphasize historical accuracy, technical development, and safe training practices.
Students learn through a combination of historical study, instructor-led demonstrations, partnered drills, tactical exercises, and supervised free fencing.
Current Program
Verdadera Destreza Fundamentals
A ten-week introduction to the Spanish tradition of Verdadera Destreza. Students explore posture, movement, geometry, measure, timing, blade engagement, and tactical concepts while developing practical fencing skills.
Class Structure
